Hi, I'm Anna.
I opened ObsidiAnn because I wasn't willing to compromise on how nails should be done — and for a long time, that wasn't the industry standard I kept running into.
Before ObsidiAnn, I worked at one of those high-volume nail chains — the kind built for speed, not for your nails. Ten-minute turnarounds, corners cut wherever no one would notice, and quality that was never really the point. I left because I couldn't keep doing that to people's hands and call it good work.
ObsidiAnn is the opposite of that. Every appointment gets the time it actually needs. I care about what's happening under the polish just as much as what it looks like on top — healthy nail beds, proper prep, products that don't wreck your nails six weeks from now. If it's not done right, it's not done.
Based in Vevey, working with clients who'd rather wait an extra week for an appointment that's actually good than get squeezed in somewhere that's just fast.

Things I wish more people knewThis isn't a lecture — it's the stuff I tell my clients anyway, because I think you deserve to know what's actually going on with your nails, not just what looks good in the chair.
In many salons, speed means assembly-line work: the time spent on a manicure is fixed, no matter what your nails need — an hour and fifteen stays an hour and fifteen, even if they'd call for more attention. Steps get skipped, problems get ignored, just to keep to the slot. I work differently: how long the session runs depends on what your hands actually need — sometimes an hour and fifteen, sometimes two hours. By sharpening my technique day after day, I can do more thorough, more careful work in the same time than an assembly-line service manages over that span. Fast doesn't mean shallow, when the speed comes from skill and not from savings made at your expense.
Gel, dip, extensions — whatever you choose, it should protect what's underneath, not wreck it. I check nail health before every service, not just what colour you want. If something needs a break to recover, I'll tell you, even if that's not what you came in hoping to hear.
I take off gel or extensions with an electric file, in 5 minutes — no long acetone soak, which dries out the nail and the skin around it. That speed isn't at the plate's expense: it comes from a technique I've mastered. I remove only the product, without touching the natural nail. If a previous salon left you soaking "until it comes off" or pried the whole thing off with pliers, both methods damage the nail — just differently.
Cuticle oil isn't a luxury add-on, it's maintenance. A little bit, most days, keeps your nails flexible and your polish lasting longer.
